I am Svetlana Vella — a licensed tour guide, author of a book about Valletta in both Russian and English, and creator of themed routes across the Maltese Islands.
I invite you to join me on a journey through Malta — a «familiar stranger.» Together, we’ll explore everything from history and traditions, art and culture, to cuisine, daily life, and the mysterious Maltese soul!
I specialize in walking and cross-cultural tours.
My name is Svetlana Vella. I’ve been living in Malta for over 20 years. During this time, I wrote the guidebook «Russian Valletta,» contributed to the magazines «My Malta» and «The Maltese Messenger,» and launched the website «On Foot in Malta.» In parallel, I’ve worked in the fields of culture, tourism, and finance.
I graduated from the Institute of Tourism Studies Malta.
Since childhood, I’ve loved reading, writing, and walking — especially in nature or through the historic centers of cities. These passions — literature and walking — have naturally evolved into my profession as a tour guide.
When creating routes, I’m constantly looking for new ideas and concepts that help reveal Malta from unexpected angles — even for myself. I enjoy exploring details, quoting poets and authors, drawing cultural parallels, decoding symbols, and sharing historical anecdotes.
